Harlinsdale Homeowners Association
Crime Watch Meeting
February 8, 2011 - 6:30 P.M.
Magnolia Room
President Brenda Meyer introduced Mike Kropp, Coordinator Supervisor, City of Rock Hill Neighborhood Empowerment Office and Officer Slawson of Rock Hill Police Dept.
Information packets were distributed and Mike Kropp reviewed the information in the packets with homeowners present and Officer Slawson gave the incident report for Harlinsdale for the past year. It was noted that there were only a few incidents responded to in our neighborhood. Some of the highlights of the info packet are as follows and attached is some of the information provided:
- Get to know your neighbors and their habits.
- Tell your neighbor when you are going on vacation or away and give them a contact number.
- Take note of unusual vehicles, people walking or riding bikes that you don't normally see.
- Lock doors between garage and house, sheds, gates.
- Lock vehicle doors - electronics, purses, etc. are too inviting to burglars.
- Install timers on lights in the house, - leave a T.V. or radio on.
- Install outside light sensors and trim hedges back.
- If someone is soliciting in neighborhood, advise them there is no soliciting and if they continue, call police (they must have a business license to sell in Rock Hill). They may be canvassing neighborhood for other reasons
- Mike Kropp also advised all residents to participate in the phone tree and stay alert as to what is happening in the neighborhood.
- To participate in neighborhood activities.
In the info packets he pointed out two phone numbers for our benefit. If you have a non emergency the number is 329-7200, however, it was stated to get a faster response is to call dispatch directly at 329-7211. Of course in an emergency call 911.
Mike Kropp and Officer Slawson took questions from residents and offered their assistance anytime we should need it. It was expressed that the Crime Watch program only works with participation and reporting of incidents no matter how small.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:20 P.M.
